Communications dependent on IT
A large energy infrastructure company needed a simpler way to manage digital signage across its sites.
The company’s old signage platform was difficult to use and offered limited room for growth. It also didn’t support the company’s dashboard needs.
The communications team didn’t use the platform directly. Instead, it passed content to IT for publishing, adding another step to every screen update.
The company also relied on dedicated media players that added work for IT. It wanted a simpler hardware setup that could support a larger signage network.
THE SOLUTION
Signage simple enough for non-technical users
The company chose Appspace to give its communications, field operations, and facilities teams an easier way to manage digital signage.
AVI-SPL, a long-standing Appspace partner, led the setup as part of its wider managed service. The partner installed the displays, set up Appspace, and handled related services.
The company runs Appspace mainly on Samsung System-on-Chip (SoC) displays to reduce its reliance on dedicated media players. A small number of locations continue to use BrightSign players.
THE RESULTS
Nearly 2x growth in signage footprint
The company grew its signage network from about 65 licenses to 125.
About 95% of the network now runs on SoC displays. This greatly reduces the number of dedicated media players IT needs to manage.
The larger network is now designed to reduce media player upkeep and remove routine content publishing from IT’s task list. Communications teams can manage screen content more directly, while IT has fewer dedicated devices to maintain.
