Coastal Waste & Recycling is a fast-growing, privately owned waste hauling and recycling company serving communities across the Southeastern United States. Founded in 2017, the company has expanded rapidly through a mix of acquisitions and organic growth, building a strong regional footprint across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
THE CHALLENGE
As Coastal Waste expanded, keeping frontline employees informed became increasingly difficult. Corporate communications relied heavily on email, but many drivers and on-site staff don’t have corporate email accounts.
Important updates – such as safety reminders, company announcements, and events – were often missed. This made it harder to maintain consistent communication, reinforce safety standards, and foster a connected company culture across growing locations.
THE SOLUTION
Coastal Waste implemented Appspace to make sure frontline employees stay informed – without relying on email. Digital signage was rolled out across all locations, with screens placed in breakrooms and high-traffic areas where drivers and site staff naturally spend time.
The screens are used to share safety updates, company news, local site information, and employee recognition like birthdays and “Employee of the Month.” Coastal Waste has also extended Appspace into office spaces with boardroom signage and is rolling out visitor kiosks to improve the check-in experience.
The platform is easy for IT to deploy and manage, making it a strong fit for a growing, multi-site organization.
THE RESULTS
Frontline employees who were previously missed by email now stay connected to company updates and safety messages. Visibility has improved across locations, helping employees feel more engaged and part of the broader team.
