Meet The Skills Center

The Skills Center is a workforce development organization focused on preparing young people for meaningful careers. 

Through hands-on training, community partnerships, and real-world learning environments, the center helps students build skills, confidence, and pathways to employment – while working closely with educators, employers, and community partners.

THE CHALLENGE

Too many moving parts, not enough visibility

Before adopting a centralized digital platform, The Skills Center struggled to keep everyone on the same page. Daily activities, events, and room usage changed frequently, but information lived in different places, making it hard for staff and partners to stay up to date.

Managing visitors was another challenge. The center regularly hosts partners, guest speakers, and VIPs, but lacked a clear, consistent way to track who was coming and going. At the same time, coordinating room bookings and sharing announcements about events or special guests required manual effort and last-minute communication.

The team needed a better way to manage their space, share information, and present a more organized, professional experience to students, staff, and community partners.

THE SOLUTION

One platform that fits how the team already works

The Skills Center chose Appspace because it was easy to implement and worked naturally with the Microsoft tools their team already used every day. With built-in integration to Microsoft 365 – including Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint – staff didn’t have to learn an entirely new system or change how they worked.

Appspace became a central place to manage room reservations, display schedules, and support visitor check-ins through digital signage and kiosks. At the same time, the intranet and internal communications features gave the team a reliable way to share updates, promote events, and highlight partners and guest speakers – all in one place.

Instead of juggling multiple systems, the center now uses a single platform to support operations, communication, and community engagement.

Today, The Skills Center operates with greater clarity and confidence. Staff and partners have a single place to find information about what’s happening in the building, which rooms are in use, and who’s visiting.
