A privately held, woman-owned business with over 40 years of experience, this company has a proven track record of building and reinvesting in stand-alone companies.  

Currently, they oversee 78 separate companies operating across four strategic platforms: Metal Processing, Industrial Technologies, Construction Solutions, and Applied Solutions.  With a global presence spanning 19 countries and five continents, they employ more than 9,000 individuals.

THE CHALLENGE

Employee engagement required a new approach

The Heico Companies’ Industrial Technologies group launched an initiative in 2018 to boost employee engagement. The challenge was effectively reaching their distributed workforce, especially shop floor employees who didn’t use email, with consistent and timely corporate information (benefits, safety, training) and executive updates. 

They sought a partner to implement an intuitive and sustainable solution to improve communications and engagement.

The Heico Companies’ goals were to:

  • Increase overall employee engagement
  • Improve communications to employees without email
  • More consistent employee messaging and cadence of communications
  • Streamline content posting process

THE SOLUTION

Scaling communication across locations using seamless tools

Heico Companies first partnered with Marlin (now part of Appspace) for digital signage in breakrooms, lunchrooms, and entrances. Following Appspace’s acquisition of Marlin, Heico gained new features, better graphics, and improved integrations. With these added benefits, The Heico Companies added their Metals Processing Group to the program. 

Previously, posting content, such as KPI metrics, current orders, and priority lists, was cumbersome. The new integrations included a smoother process of feeding information from The Heico Companies’ ERP to Power BI and then distributing the output directly via Appspace.

The Heico Companies has deployed the solution to 17 locations and 85+ displays. Future plans include implementing digital signage at more company locations, including Canada, and increased use of Appspace.

THE RESULTS

The right technology improved employee engagement

Each location saves 20-30 minutes every day because they no longer have to manually update departmental KPIs. Appspace automatically pulls the data from Microsoft Power BI. And since implementing Appspace, poll results related to employee engagement are up 3-5%.
