THE CHALLENGE
Our customer, a global biopharmaceutical company, planned to open a new
headquarters that would appeal to a hybrid workforce of 9,000. Their vision was to make their physical office space “the healthiest building in the world.”
They wanted to create the ultimate workplace experience – a safe and productive environment that employees would want to be in.
Good Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), simple room and desk booking, and seamless communications were all must-haves.
THE SOLUTION
In addition to easy-to-manage room and desk booking for employees, our customer wanted to monitor carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in meeting rooms.
Partnering with Metrikus, the IoT software company that’s revolutionizing physical office environments, we created an easy way to measure and display meeting room CO2 levels.
When the air quality changes, the Appspace Broadcasts feature triggers an on-screen alert that says it’s time to exit and book another room. And rooms with elevated CO2 levels show up as “unavailable” in the system.
We created a custom card for the digital signs located inside and outside the rooms. With Metrikus feeding information into the Appspace platform by way of APIs, the content on the screens doesn’t just display current CO2 levels – it also notifies people.
THE RESULTS
We implemented this first-of-its kind integration as a proof of concept for our customer’s HQ. With research showing that better indoor air quality boosts employee productivity and overall health, our customer’s head office is a win for their workplace experience and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) goals.
The next step? Rolling out the Appspace and Metrikus integration across our customer’s global offices, serving 120,000 staff.
